CAMELID | ASSOCIATION

The Cornwall Camelid Association is a friendly group covering alpaca and llama enthusiasts in Cornwall and Devon.  We support members with advice on all aspects of alpaca ownership. Every year we aim to put on a varied calendar of events  combining education and enjoyment and hoping to enhance everyone's experience of owning alpacas - and llamas too!

Our vet days are designed to help all our members keep their alpacas fit, healthy and happy. They are typically held in Spring and Autumn and are brilliant opportunities to learn from our Honorary Vet, Sarah Finch BSC (hons) BVSc MRCVs, and other members.
In Spring we focus on the birthing season ahead and our Autumn agenda takes in topics as varied as on farm first aid, nutrition, common alpaca conditions and diseases and biosecurity - we tailor each one to members' requests.

To celebrate the wonderful animals and their fleece, we usually have a Halter Show for members in May and a Fleece Show in the summer which is open to alpaca owners across the UK.

In 2023 the Halter Show was held at the Royal Cornwall Showground - a great under cover venue which gave the opportunity for more members of the public to join us at the show.   Unfortunately, we couldn't find a suitable date for the Halter Show in 2024 so instead we are putting on a Fleece Education Day for members.  We hope to be back with a Halter Show in 2025!

The Fleece Show is now its 5th year and firmly established on the BAS calendar, with winning fleeces qualifying for the BAS National Champion of Champions Show.

We endeavour to have at least one social event each year and a variety of workshops and visits focussing on fibre, fleece, spinning and alpaca products.

An active Committee work hard to ensure members are kept abreast of updates and events and we have a thriving facebook group to share knowledge.  A number of members are also qualified trainers, so if you would like to take or arrange a training course to 'up your skills', see whats on offer.

As a group we try and keep all our events as informal as possible so they are enjoyable and a good opportunity to make new friends.  New members are always welcome, please click here for more information and to apply:)
